Climb 6

Climb Number: 6

Date: 12/22/08

Location: N 45.394, W 123.192

Tree Type:

Tree Name:

Weather: Cool, rainy earlier but dry during climb.

Placement: Line previously placed and tied up to lower limbs. Line accessed by DRT with Blake's hitch, then descended down to pull climbing rope through already placed anchor high on tree.

Rope: The Fly, 200 feet. Poison Ivy, 200 feet.

Anchor Type: 3 half-hitches around trunk and tied with a timber knot.

Ascent: Yo-yo with Petzl I'D

Pitches: No additional

Movement in the tree: Up and down climb only

Decent: Petzl I'D

Problems:
None major. Poor view with lots of bushy branches around. Unable to climb higher without removing limbs due to being near the top (within 15 feet) and a ring of small tight branches higher up.

Things that went well:
1) Having zing-it line already placed to pull rope through was nice
2) A nice, quick but satisfying climb
3) Tree did have some height, estimated climbed to about 75 feet. Posted to facebook from highest point.
